Pune Peoples Bank to launch Amrit Mahotsav logo

Pune Peoples Co-operative Bank Ltd. has been planning to enter its Amrit Mahotsav year, marking 75 years since its founding in 1952.

To commemorate the milestone, the bank will host a special programme on Friday, January 23, at 4.00 pm at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, where it will unveil its Amrit Mahotsav logo and present the Pune Peoples Award.

The announcement was made by Bank Chairman Shridhar Gaikwad during a press conference attended by members of the Board of Directors, managing committee, expert directors, and senior management.

As part of the celebrations, the Pune Peoples Award will be conferred on Dr. Rajendra Dhamane and Dr. Sucheta Dhamane, founders of Mauli Seva Pratishthan, Ahilyanagar, for their outstanding work in supporting women suffering from mental illness. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1,01,000, along with a citation and memento. The event will be graced by State Co-operation Commissioner and Registrar of Co-operative Societies Deepak Taware and Savitribai Phule Pune University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar.

Speaking at the press conference, Managing Committee Chairman Adv. Subhash Mohite said the bank was established on January 31, 1952, on Vasant Panchami, with the vision of creating a people-centric financial institution rooted in trust, ownership, and social responsibility. Over the past 74 years, the bank has consistently served small entrepreneurs, traders, and depositors while remaining committed to social service. As part of the Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a special cultural programme titled “Sankarshan via Spruha” has also been organised. He further revealed that the bank will shift its head office to a self-owned 26,000 sq. ft. building during the Amrit Mahotsav year.

Chairman Shridhar Gaikwad highlighted the bank’s growth journey, noting that total business has expanded from Rs 400 crore to Rs 2,750 crore over the past 17 years. The bank currently maintains zero percent NPAs and offers dividends ranging between 12 per cent and 15 per cent to its members. Looking ahead, the bank has set a target of achieving Rs 500 crore growth by March 2026 and aims to scale total business to Rs 5,000 crore within the next two to three years. He also expressed confidence that Pune Peoples Bank will soon attain Direct Membership and Scheduled Bank status.
