Equitas Small Finance Bank Limited has launched When Organisations Win – Governance, Trust and the Values of Equitas Small Finance Bank, a new book examining how governance, trust and organisational values can contribute to sustainable growth and long-term resilience.
Authored by Dr CA Sangeeta Shankaran Sumesh, CFO, business and leadership coach, author, speaker and Independent Director, the book captures Equitas’ governance journey through conversations with P N Vasudevan, Managing Director & CEO, Equitas Small Finance Bank.
Rather than presenting governance solely as a framework of regulations and compliance requirements, the book explores how governance influences organisational behaviour, decision-making and leadership, particularly when businesses face complex choices, competing priorities and changing risks.
A central concept discussed in the book is the Frames Approach to Governance, through which Equitas examines governance from multiple perspectives and develops corresponding action plans. The approach is intended to create a more dynamic governance framework that can evolve alongside the organisation.
The book explores areas including Board-management alignment, regulatory developments, engagement with the Reserve Bank of India, customer-centric governance, business models, credit risk, technology, operational controls, investor relationships, ethical leadership and social impact.
Through conversations with Vasudevan, the book also traces Equitas’ transformation from its early beginnings as a microfinance institution to its evolution into a Small Finance Bank. It highlights how governance considerations have influenced business decisions throughout this journey.
