State Bank of India (SBI) and ScoreMe Solutions Pvt. Ltd. have joined hands to power the switch of a digital Savings Account to Salary Account, enabling eligible SBI savings account holders to move to a salary account without having to visit a branch.
The joint launch digitises a process that has traditionally involved branch-based paperwork and manual intervention. The new journey is designed to make the transition simpler and more convenient for eligible customers while continuing to operate within SBI’s existing salary account eligibility criteria and product terms.
The move comes at a time when the salary account remains one of the most important relationships in retail banking. Payroll relationships can deepen a customer’s engagement with a bank through regular deposits, payments, spending and, overtime, access to a wider range of financial products. For banks, building and retaining these relationships is closely linked to strengthening their deposit franchise and competing for a larger share of customers’ financial lives.
With the new digital journey, eligible SBI savings account holders can choose to transition to a salary account digitally, removing the need for a branch visit. The switch is customer-initiated; no savings account is automatically converted into a salary account. Existing eligibility requirements and salary account terms continue to apply.
Sanjay Pandey, CGM; Rajeev Verma, DGM; and Jiwan Kapoor, General Managers; and Pankaj Kumar Singh, AGM, State Bank of India, said, “We are very happy with the ScoreMe and see significant potential in taking this partnership forward and scaling it up. The solution reflects our continued focus on leveraging technology and digital capabilities to make banking simpler, faster and more accessible for our customers. It is also a matter of great pride for us that SBI’s All New YONO has been recognised as a Winner in the Transformation Category at the ISG Asia Paragon Awards 2026 in Singapore. This recognition is a testament to our continued journey of innovation, transformation and excellence, and reinforces our commitment to transforming banking and setting new benchmarks. We look forward to building on these achievements and continuing to shape the future of banking through technology and innovation.”
ScoreMe Solutions provides journey orchestration technology to power the digital switch. Its technology brings the relevant customer journey and eligibility steps together within the institution-defined framework, helping automate the process while keeping the customer in control of the decision.
Shashank Sharma, Co-Founder & Director; Ayush Jindal, Co-Founder and CEO; and Rohit Kohli, CTO, ScoreMe, said, “Digital transformation in banking is increasingly about simplifying the journeys customers already undertake rather than creating complexity around them. The Savings-to-Salary journey demonstrates how technology can remove friction from an established banking process while operating within the bank’s existing policies and product framework. We are pleased to support SBI in making this journey more seamless for its eligible customers.”
The launch reflects the broader evolution of digital banking, where customer experience is increasingly being shaped not only by new products but also by how efficiently existing banking processes can be completed. For SBI, the Savings-to-Salary journey provides a digital route to deepen relationships with customers already within its savings account base.
