RBI launches Mission SAKSHAM for UCB capacity building

The Reserve Bank of India has launched Mission SAKSHAM, a nationwide capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the Urban Cooperative Banking (UCB) sector through structured training and skill development programmes.

The mission will cover approximately 1.40 lakh participants, including board members, senior management, and professionals across risk, compliance, audit, IT, and other critical functions. The training will be delivered through a mix of in-person sessions and e-learning modules, with content made available in regional languages where feasible.

Mission SAKSHAM has been developed in consultation with the umbrella organisation of UCBs as well as national and state cooperative federations, ensuring alignment with sector-specific requirements.

The initiative is focused on improving managerial capabilities, strengthening compliance culture, and enhancing operational efficiency across UCBs. It also aims to build long-term institutional resilience by creating a continuous learning ecosystem within the sector.

Through this structured approach, the RBI is seeking to support stability and sustainable growth in the urban cooperative banking segment.
