Navi UPI has integrated with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to enable metro commuters in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru to purchase QR-based tickets directly through the Navi app.
The feature streamlines digital ticketing by allowing users to plan routes, book single or return journeys, and complete payments within one interface. Metro systems in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi are expected to be added soon.
The integration aims to simplify high-volume public transport payments, where cash usage continues to be significant despite the rapid adoption of digital transactions. The new feature removes the need for physical ticket counters or multiple applications for different metro networks.
According to Navi Limited, India’s metro systems move more than one crore passengers daily, and digital ticketing is expected to offer commuters a faster, more convenient experience. ONDC noted that the integration demonstrates the benefits of open digital networks, allowing a single interface to serve multiple metro systems and use cases.
The feature is currently available for Delhi Metro, Mumbai Metro (Lines 1, 2A, 7 & 3), and Bengaluru Metro, supporting ONDC’s broader expansion of mobility services. With around 1.15 crore daily metro commuters and over 40 per cent still relying on cash or physical tickets, the move is expected to accelerate the adoption of unified payment platforms.
Navi UPI plans to expand the service to additional public transit networks while enhancing features around secure digital payments, ease of use, and incentives for frequent travellers.
