BharatPe launches Credit-on-UPI solution

BharatPe has launched BharatPe Flex, a new Credit-on-UPI solution developed in collaboration with YES BANK, aimed at giving consumers greater flexibility in managing their everyday expenses.

The offering integrates a credit line directly into the UPI payment experience, allowing users to continue making payments through their preferred UPI channels while accessing instant credit when needed. Customers can use the solution for a wide range of transactions, including QR code payments at stores, online shopping, utility bill payments, mobile recharges, travel bookings and fuel purchases.

With BharatPe Flex, users can avail up to 45 days of interest-free credit and choose to either repay the outstanding amount in full within the billing cycle or convert eligible transactions into easy EMIs. The platform also features a fully digital onboarding process, with eligible customers able to receive approvals in as little as three minutes.

The solution includes in-app tools that allow users to monitor spending, track available credit limits and manage repayments. Customers can also earn rewards on eligible transactions made through BharatPe UPI.

The launch comes as digital payments continue to evolve in India, with consumers increasingly looking for payment options that offer both convenience and financial flexibility. BharatPe believes the new offering addresses this growing demand by combining the simplicity of UPI with access to short-term credit.

Speaking on the launch, Nalin Negi, CEO, BharatPe, said, “UPI has fundamentally transformed the way India transacts by making payments instant, interoperable, and accessible at scale. As digital payments mature, we believe the next phase of innovation will focus on providing consumers with greater flexibility and control over how they manage everyday expenses. BharatPe Flex has been built to address that emerging need by combining the familiarity of UPI with the convenience of credit in a seamless and intuitive manner.”

Commenting on the partnership, Anil Singh, Country Head, Credit Cards & Merchant Acquiring, YES BANK, said, “YES BANK has been a major player in India’s UPI ecosystem, supporting the growth of digital payments through strong technology infrastructure and innovation-led solutions.
