AI in lending takes centre stage at LendTechX 2025 with focus on transparency and bias

The 3rd edition of LendTechX 2025, hosted at Hotel Radisson Blu, Marol, Mumbai, has successfully concluded, bringing together industry leaders, innovators and financial experts to deliberate on the evolving landscape of lending in India.

The day-long conference, organised by Bharat Network Group (BNG), featured keynote insights, panel discussions, technical presentations, and an awards ceremony celebrating excellence in LendTech innovation.

The conference began with a welcome address by Dr. Anupam Gupta, Co-Founder and Director, BNG, who set the tone for the day by underlining the significance of collaborative growth in the financial ecosystem.

“LendTechX has always been a platform to connect innovators, lenders, and technology leaders. As we stand at the cusp of transformation in financial services, collaboration between NBFCs, banks, and FintTechs is no longer optional but a necessity,” he said.

Dr. Gupta also reiterated BNG’s commitment to fostering a Bharat-first vision in financial innovation and encouraged participants to engage in meaningful knowledge exchange throughout the sessions.

The first panel discussion, titled “Co-Lending Done Right: Collaboration or Chaos?” was moderated by Vivek Iyer, Partner, Financial Services Risk Advisory, Grant Thornton Bharat LLP. The panel examined the RBI guidelines on co-lending, debated ownership of customers in default scenarios, and stressed the role of technology platforms and real-time APIs in driving transparency and scalability. A recurring theme was whether co-lending can expand meaningfully into sectors like MSMEs, agriculture and housing beyond traditional secured lending.

Following a networking break, the audience heard a technical presentation on cyber insurance by Kanishka Gadi, Director, Corporate Business, Edme Insurance Brokers, who highlighted the growing relevance of insurance in mitigating risks for financial institutions.
