SBI General Insurance and CarePlix unveil biometric health scans

SBI General Insurance, in collaboration with CarePlix, has launched a biometric health scanning feature on its mobile app. The new digital tool underscores the insurer’s commitment to innovation, wellness, and customer-centric services.

The feature employs advanced remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technology, enabling users to check vital health parameters such as heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, BMI, stress levels, and body composition through simple face and finger scans. Unlike conventional methods, the process is entirely sensor-free, contactless and provides real-time health insights.

Mohd. Arif Khan, Deputy CEO, SBI General Insurance, said the initiative reflects the company’s vision of building a digitally connected, health-conscious society. He emphasised that the solution positions the company at the forefront of integrating insurance with everyday health management.

Available to both new and existing policyholders, the app also offers users up to five per cent discounts on standard lab tests through partner providers. The company said this feature is designed to make health tracking more accessible and engaging across age groups.

The launch aligns with SBI General Insurance’s broader digital strategy to go beyond traditional coverage and offer holistic solutions. Backed by the legacy of the State Bank of India, the insurer has built one of the fastest-growing footprints in the sector, with 146 branches nationwide and access to more than 22,000 SBI outlets.

With over 9,000 employees and multiple distribution tie-ups, the company said it continues to combine Suraksha and Bharosa with innovative offerings such as the new biometric health tool, further strengthening its position as a leader in merging insurance with wellness.
