GARP partners with NAL Academy to boost risk and finance education in India

Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) has partnered with NAL Academy Limited, formerly known as NSE Academy Limited, to expand access to industry-focused education and strengthen India’s risk and finance talent ecosystem.

The collaboration aims to address the increasing demand for skilled professionals in risk management, compliance, and financial analytics across India’s BFSI sector. By aligning globally recognised risk certifications with India’s regulatory and market needs, the initiative will focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence risk, cybersecurity, and broader non-financial risk management.

Under the partnership, the organisations will develop integrated learning pathways combining GARP’s Risk and AI (RAI) Certificate with NAL Academy’s recently launched cybersecurity bootcamp. The programme is designed to equip learners with practical skills to tackle challenges such as AI model risk, cyber threats, and operational governance risks faced by financial institutions and corporates.

The courses will cater to a wide audience including early-career professionals, senior risk and finance leaders, cybersecurity specialists, and university students aspiring to build careers in financial services and global markets. The programmes will be delivered through blended, virtual, and self-paced learning formats to improve accessibility across India.

Rich Apostolik, President and CEO, GARP, said organisations adopting advanced technologies are increasingly exposed to non-financial risks such as cybersecurity breaches and generative AI model risks. He noted that the partnership with NAL Academy will support industry upskilling in AI risk and governance, aligning with regulatory priorities such as the FREE-AI framework promoted by the Reserve Bank of India.

Abhilash Misra, Managing Director and CEO, NAL Academy Limited, added that the collaboration will combine global risk management frameworks with India-specific market practices to equip learners with practical capabilities in AI, cybersecurity, and non-financial risk management.

The partnership comes as India’s financial services industry rapidly adopts digital technologies, data-driven decision-making, and AI-powered operations. By combining GARP’s global expertise in risk standards with NAL Academy’s practitioner-led education in Indian financial markets, the collaboration aims to strengthen the country’s risk, compliance, and governance capabilities.
