eMudhra and LankaPay join hands to power digital trust

eMudhra Limited has announced a strategic partnership with LankaPay to enable legally trusted digital signatures across Sri Lanka’s financial and public sector ecosystems. The collaboration aims to strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure by extending secure digital trust services beyond payments into contracts, mandates, authorisations, and institutional documentation.

As Sri Lanka advances its digital economy agenda, the availability of legally enforceable digital signatures is expected to play a critical role in enhancing operational efficiency, transparency, and trust across banking, government services, and enterprise operations.

Under the partnership, eMudhra will deploy its expertise in Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), electronic signatures, and digital trust services, while LankaPay will leverage its national-scale financial network to ensure widespread adoption. Together, the two organisations seek to build a secure, interoperable, and regulator-aligned digital transaction ecosystem across the country.

Kaushik Srinivasan, Co-Founder, eMudhra, said the initiative marks the next phase of digital transformation. He emphasised that while digital payments were the first milestone in modernising financial systems, establishing digital trust through legally recognised signatures is essential for building a truly paperless economy.

The collaboration is expected to reduce operational friction, accelerate transaction turnaround times, and enhance regulatory compliance, while creating a foundation for future innovations in digital identity, secure document exchange, and cross-border trade.

For eMudhra, the move represents a strategic expansion of its footprint in South Asia and reinforces its positioning as a regional digital trust infrastructure partner for governments and financial institutions.
