Building the infrastructure behind Bharat Connect

Can you share how plutos ONE supports Bharat’s bill payment penetration, especially for recurring categories like utilities, FASTag, and loan repayments?

At Plutos ONE, we believe bill-payment adoption in Bharat accelerates when advanced infrastructure is combined with speed, trust, and habit formation. Our mission is to enable banks and enterprises to convert everyday obligations, utilities, FASTag, and loan repayments, into simple, seamless, and recurring digital payments.

As a BBPS Technology Service Provider (TSP), our biggest differentiator is service-first execution, whether we are working with banks or merchants. We operate one of the most advanced, switching-led, API-driven payment platforms in the ecosystem, supported by hands-on onboarding, proactive compliance management, and continuous operational support.

Built on pre-integrated and compliance-ready modules, our infrastructure enables us to onboard merchants and billers in as little as two weeks, compared to the industry average of three to four months. This not only accelerates time-to-market but also ensures long-term stability, regulatory alignment, and scalability for our partners.

Why do you believe TSPs, rather than traditional banks or FinTechs, are best positioned to solve Bharat’s payment infrastructure challenges?

Payment infrastructure is the foundation on which banks deliver seamless, reliable, and scalable solutions to customers. While banks own trust, compliance, and customer relationships, the ability to innovate quickly depends on having the right technology backbone.

This is where Technology Service Providers (TSPs) play a critical role. TSPs bring advanced, continuously evolving infrastructure, designed for high scalability, rapid upgrades, and regulatory alignment. By partnering with a TSP, banks gain access to best-in-class technology, faster deployment cycles, and future-ready platforms, without disrupting core systems.

As a result, banks can focus on delivering superior customer experiences, while TSPs ensure the payment infrastructure remains robust, agile, and ready to scale at Bharat level.

Since plutos ONE provides end-to-end biller solutions, what differentiates your BBPS onboarding and integration compared to other TSPs?

The Bharat Connect Technology Suite is one of the most advanced payment infrastructure platforms in the ecosystem, whether it is BBPS, Banking Connect, or Bharat Connect for Business. It is built on a switching-led, API-first, and compliance-by-design architecture, designed specifically for Bharat-scale volumes and regulatory complexity.

Across BBPS, the suite enables rapid biller onboarding, real-time bill fetch and payments, automated settlement and reconciliation, and continuous NPCI-aligned upgrades. With Banking Connect, it acts as a secure orchestration layer between banks and external ecosystems, enabling faster integrations, controlled workflows, and seamless scalability. Bharat Connect for Business extends this capability to merchants and enterprises, supporting collections, payouts, reconciliation, and assisted channels.

What makes the suite truly advanced is not just technology, but execution at speed with service ownership, allowing Plutos ONE to take partners live in weeks, not months, while remaining fully compliant and future-ready.

plutos ONE operates on MeitY-approved Google Cloud data centres. How does this enhance performance, scalability, and compliance?

Plutos ONE operates on MeitY-approved Google Cloud data centres, enabling high performance, seamless scalability, and regulatory compliance at Bharat scale. Google Cloud’s low-latency, high-availability architecture ensures our switching and BBPS platforms handle large transaction volumes in real time, even during peak periods.

The cloud-native design allows us to scale on demand as new banks, billers, and enterprises are onboarded, without disruption, while ensuring data residency and alignment with Indian regulatory requirements.

With Google’s enterprise support, Plutos ONE is evolving into an AI-first payment infrastructure company. We are embedding AI for intelligent routing, anomaly detection, predictive scaling, reconciliation automation, and proactive issue resolution.

Our engineering and operations teams are trained by Google specialists, equipping them to manage very large volumes with high resilience. Together, advanced cloud infrastructure, AI-driven architecture, and skilled execution make Plutos ONE future-ready and built for Bharat-scale payments.

How is plutos ONE tailoring its bill payment solutions for rural customers with limited digital literacy?

At Plutos ONE, we believe the next wave of bill-payment growth will come from Bharat, where adoption depends more on assistance, trust, and local language access than on apps alone.

To address limited digital literacy in rural and semi-urban India, we work closely with Common Service Centres, leveraging a network of over 13 lakh Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs). These VLEs act as trusted local facilitators, enabling assisted bill payments for utilities, FASTag, and loan repayments through familiar, offline touchpoints.

Our bill-payment solutions are designed to be language-first and workflow-light, supporting multiple Indian languages and simplified assisted journeys. Customers do not need to navigate complex digital interfaces, the VLE manages the transaction, while our BBPS infrastructure ensures secure processing, instant confirmation, and full transparency.

We strongly believe that real transaction volumes will originate from Bharat, driven by offline-assisted and phygital payment models. By combining scalable infrastructure with on-ground distribution, Plutos ONE is enabling inclusive, reliable bill payments for customers across rural India.
What new categories under BBPS do you believe will unlock the next growth wave in India’s digital billing ecosystem?

With BBPS now rebranded as Bharat Connect, the ecosystem has expanded well beyond traditional bill payments, setting the foundation for the next growth phase of India’s digital billing landscape.

While utility payments will continue to be core, the real acceleration will come from high-frequency and recurring categories such as loan repayments, FASTag auto top-ups, insurance premiums, education fees, subscriptions, and municipal services. These use cases are naturally suited for mandate-led and automated payment models, driving stronger customer stickiness and predictable transaction volumes.

The larger opportunity, however, lies in the expanded pillars of Bharat Connect.
Banking Connect enables banks to seamlessly integrate FinTechs, enterprises, and service providers through secure orchestration, unlocking embedded billing and collection use cases without impacting core systems.
Bharat Connect for Business extends the ecosystem to merchants, SMEs, and enterprises, enabling digital collections, invoicing, distributor and rent payments, and assisted business transactions, particularly across semi-urban and rural India.

At Plutos ONE, our Bharat Connect Business Suite spans the complete spectrum of Bill Payments, Banking Connect, and Bharat Connect for Business, making us one of the very few Technology Service Providers to offer an integrated, end-to-end solution across all three pillars on a single switching-led platform. This unified approach allows banks to go live faster, launch multiple Bharat Connect use cases together, and scale seamlessly, while remaining fully compliant and future-ready, establishing Plutos ONE as one of India’s fastest-growing payment infrastructure companies.
