Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank Ltd. has conducted a mandatory Cyber Security Awareness Training Programme at Devtalav Society Hall in Vasai West, bringing together employees and senior stakeholders to strengthen awareness of evolving cyber risks. Held under the theme ‘You Are the First Human Firewall of VVSB Bank’, the programme focused on the role of employees in protecting the bank, its customers, data and digital banking infrastructure.
The programme saw participation from directors, executives and senior management, branch managers, officers, employees, system users, Information Technology and Information Security teams, newly joined staff members, as well as representatives from the bank’s TURING 4.0 CBS and digital switch vendor M2P.
The sessions were conducted jointly by Ravi Raval, Chief Executive Officer, Phoenix TechnoCyber, a CERT-In empanelled organisation, and Ashok HN Tiwari, Chief Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer, Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank. The training covered a broad range of areas relevant to banking security, including IT governance, cyber security governance, information security governance, data governance and digital banking security.
Participants were also trained on email phishing, social engineering, ransomware, cyber fraud prevention and cyber crisis management. The programme further addressed Governance, Risk and Compliance, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the DPDP Rules, 2025, RBI’s cyber security and information technology regulatory requirements, cyber hygiene and customer data protection.
A live cyber-attack demonstration was also conducted to provide participants with a practical understanding of how cyber threats can emerge and how they can be identified and mitigated. An interactive Cyber Security Quiz Competition formed another part of the programme, allowing participants to test their understanding of key security concepts covered during the sessions.
The top three performers in the quiz were felicitated by Ashay Raut, Chairman, Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank; Abhay Chaudhari, Chairman of the IT Strategy Committee; and Dilip Y. Thakur, Chief Executive Officer. The bank’s leadership also recognised the efforts of Ravi Raval and Ashok HN Tiwari for delivering practical and accessible sessions covering cyber security, digital banking risks, fraud prevention, data privacy and regulatory compliance.
The management also acknowledged the contributions of the Information Technology, Information Security and Human Resources departments in organising the programme. As part of its ongoing awareness strategy, the bank has announced that mandatory cyber security training will be conducted every six months for all employees.
In addition, specialised cyber security programmes will be organised every quarter for the Information Technology and Information Security teams. The initiative is intended to support continuous capability building, strengthen cyber resilience and help the bank maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and data protection requirements.
As part of the programme, Ashay Raut and Dilip Y. Thakur presented a memento to Ravi Raval in recognition of his contribution. The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
Through the initiative, Vasai Vikas Sahakari Bank reiterated its focus on building a security-conscious workforce while strengthening digital banking protection, customer data privacy, cyber resilience and adherence to applicable RBI and data protection requirements.
