AI Accountant has launched AiA Bot, a WhatsApp-based accounting assistant that enables founders and business owners to access key financial information in around 10 seconds by asking questions in natural language.
The assistant uses data from synced accounting books to provide information directly through WhatsApp, reducing the need for business owners to log into accounting software, navigate ledgers or wait for accountants and finance teams to prepare routine financial updates.
AiA Bot was piloted for six weeks between July 24 and September 2 across 122 businesses. During the pilot, the platform generated more than 1,600 messages and around 700 financial queries, offering insight into the types of financial information founders seek most frequently.
Ledger and party balances represented 33 per cent of queries, followed by custom analysis such as customer and vendor rankings and cash flow at 20 per cent. Receivables accounted for 18 per cent, while revenue and sales represented 14 per cent and payables 13 per cent.
The platform is designed to provide founders with access to customer and vendor balances, receivables, sales and payables without requiring them to navigate accounting reports or depend on their finance teams for routine information.
“Millions of business owners in India are constantly on the move and increasingly run their businesses from WhatsApp. They don’t want another complicated application or another dashboard to navigate just to understand their finances. We built AiA Bot so that they can simply ask about their cash position, receivables or payments and get the information they need on WhatsApp. The idea is to make interacting with your books as simple as having a conversation,” said Rohan Sinha, Head of Growth, AI Accountant.
The information delivered through AiA Bot reflects the current state of a company’s accounting books. As long as the books are updated, users can access the latest available figures instead of relying on periodic reports.
Beyond financial queries, AiA Bot enables businesses to upload or forward purchase bills through WhatsApp. Nearly 1,000 bills were uploaded during the pilot, with bills processed in under 10 seconds. AI Accountant estimates that, at the current run rate, the bot is eliminating around 24 hours of manual bill handling each week, equivalent to more than 100 hours a month.
The busiest business during the pilot saved six hours of manual bill handling in a single week. Usage also increased during the pilot, with weekly messages rising from six to 572 and active businesses increasing from three to 50. AiA Bot currently supports both English and Hindi.
AI Accountant plans to expand the platform beyond providing financial information to helping founders interpret and act on it. Its roadmap includes daily financial briefs covering revenue, expenses, receivables and cash positions, alerts for overdue collections and upcoming payments, and conversational access to P&L and cash flow reports.
The company also plans to introduce anomaly detection for unusual spending, margin slippage, vendor overcharges and overdue invoices. AI Accountant is targeting one lakh AiA Bot users by the end of 2026.
