Axis Bank has launched two new digital banking capabilities aimed at giving customers greater control, security and convenience while making domestic and international payments.
As part of its broader Safe Banking proposition, the bank has introduced an industry-first UPI Limit Management feature and an International Travel Declaration facility. The initiatives are designed to combine personalised customer controls with enhanced risk-management measures.
The new UPI feature allows customers to establish and manage transaction limits across different payment categories directly through the Axis Mobile Banking App. Users can set separate thresholds for Person-to-Person (P2P), domestic merchant and international merchant transactions, allowing them to align their payment limits with their individual spending patterns.
The limits configured through the Axis Mobile Banking App apply across all UPI applications linked to the customer’s Axis Bank account, creating a unified mechanism for managing UPI payments. Customers can access the feature through Quick Links → Safety Centre → UPI Module under Control Centre, where they can review or modify their limits and authenticate changes using MPIN and OTP verification.
The feature is intended to provide customers with greater visibility over their digital spending while helping reduce exposure to unauthorised or accidental high-value transactions. It is currently available to a limited group of customers and is expected to be extended to the wider customer base.
Axis Bank has also introduced International Travel Declaration for eligible credit card customers, allowing them to digitally submit their overseas travel plans before travelling.
International transactions can sometimes trigger fraud and risk controls when they occur in unfamiliar locations or differ from a customer’s usual spending behaviour. By incorporating declared travel plans into its risk assessment process, Axis Bank aims to provide additional context for identifying legitimate overseas transactions and reducing avoidable payment declines.
Customers can access the travel declaration facility through Credit Card → Control Center → International Travel. The feature allows the bank to capture travel intent in advance, providing additional information for its risk assessment mechanisms.
According to Axis Bank, the capability can help improve the identification of genuine international transactions while maintaining existing fraud-prevention safeguards. It also provides customers with a self-service mechanism to prepare their cards for overseas usage and reduce potential disruptions during travel.
Arnika Dixit, Group Head – Cards, Payments and Wealth Management, Axis Bank, said the bank’s Safe Banking approach is focused on giving customers greater control and confidence in managing their finances. She highlighted the UPI controls and travel declaration capability as examples of how Axis Bank is combining personalised payment management with stronger risk controls.
Together, the two capabilities strengthen Axis Bank’s broader Safe Banking proposition, allowing customers to personalise how they transact while benefiting from additional security measures and contextual risk assessment.
The launch reflects the bank’s continued focus on customer-centric digital banking, with an emphasis on making everyday payment experiences more intuitive, secure and seamless as digital transactions continue to expand.
