8B ties up with PayU to enable UPI payments across Central Asia

8B and PayU have partnered to bring UPI and other Indian payment methods to Central Asia, enabling seamless cross-border transactions for Indian travellers and businesses.

The integration allows Indian users to pay merchants across Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan using UPI, net banking, and debit or credit cards, including RuPay. By embedding PayU’s APIs into 8B’s merchant network, the partnership ensures that Indian consumers can transact using familiar payment methods without additional onboarding.

For merchants, the collaboration opens access to India’s rapidly growing digital payments ecosystem without requiring new infrastructure. In Kazakhstan, the integration is supported through Zesta LLP, ensuring regulatory compliance.

The move comes amid rising travel and trade between India and Central Asia. With Indian outbound tourism growing steadily and the region witnessing an increased inflow of Indian visitors, the partnership simplifies payments and enhances the overall travel experience.

Beyond tourism, the initiative also supports cross-border commerce, enabling Central Asian businesses offering services like travel bookings and digital goods to cater more effectively to Indian customers.
