Intellect Design Arena Ltd. has announced an accelerated expansion of its presence in the US market with the launch of what it describes as the world’s only AI-first payments platform, designed from first principles to deliver business impact as demand for real-time payments continues to rise.
As banks seek to capitalise on growing instant payment volumes, Intellect aims to help institutions move beyond incremental system upgrades and instead build payment infrastructures that offer greater speed, resilience and competitive differentiation. The company highlighted that the US real-time payments opportunity is projected to reach $2 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of around 40 per cent, even as a significant proportion of banks have yet to join instant payment networks.
Intellect’s AI-first payments platform embeds intelligence across the entire payment lifecycle rather than applying analytics only after transactions are completed. Powered by Purple Fabric, the company’s Open Business Impact AI-First platform enables AI models to operate at critical pre-transaction and in-flight stages, supporting anomaly detection, exception prediction and operational decision-making in real time. This approach is intended to reduce processing latency, lower reconciliation overheads and improve predictability as transaction volumes and availability requirements increase.
The platform provides a unified orchestration layer across major US payment rails, including TCH RTP, FedNow Service, ACH, Fedwire and SWIFT. AI capabilities are applied at each stage of the payment flow, validating and enriching transactions before execution and monitoring them as they route, settle and complete through a centralised control plane. Built on Intellect’s eMACH.ai principles and Pay9 architecture, the solution integrates with existing banking systems, allowing incremental modernisation rather than large-scale replacement.
Intellect said it already serves 18 banks and 176 credit unions across North America and is trusted by eight of the top ten North American banks, alongside more than 500 institutions globally. The company noted that its enterprise-grade capabilities are being extended to mid-market banks without the complexity or cost typically associated with large-scale platforms.
As part of its long-term US commitment, Intellect is investing in expanded infrastructure, including a new headquarters in New York City, an operations centre in Atlanta, an AI development hub in Austin and dedicated research facilities in New York and Toronto. Recent strategic acquisitions and partnerships, along with the appointment of a senior executive to lead growth in the Americas, further underline the company’s focus on strengthening its position in the US wholesale banking technology market.
Commenting on the expansion, Manish Maakan, Executive President, Group Chief Revenue Officer and CEO – Wholesale Banking, Intellect Design Arena, said banks face a clear choice between leading payment transformation or risking being overtaken by competitors.
He added that as real-time payments scale, institutions require AI-first platforms that deliver speed and resilience while meeting the operational realities of regulated banking.
