Mswipe gets RBI nod as payment aggregator

Mswipe Technologies has secured the Reserve Bank of India’s final Payment Aggregator (PA) licence for both online and physical payment acceptance, marking a key regulatory milestone in the company’s expansion as a full-stack payments provider.

The authorisation allows Mswipe to directly onboard merchants and aggregate customer payment instruments across digital and in-person channels under one regulatory structure. It also enables the facilitation of both inward and outward cross-border transactions, strengthening Mswipe’s position as an omnichannel payments infrastructure platform.

Payment Aggregator approval has become a critical benchmark within India’s payments ecosystem, particularly as the RBI tightens norms around merchant onboarding, fund settlement, and data security. With only a limited number of fintech companies holding full PA authorisation, the licence signals regulatory preparedness and operational maturity, an increasingly important differentiator as merchants look to consolidate payment partners.

Ketan Patel, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Mswipe Technologies, said the approval represents a defining moment for the company.

He noted that the licence reinforces Mswipe’s vision of building a trusted, secure and inclusive digital payments ecosystem that supports merchants across online, offline and hybrid business models, while enabling faster innovation and deeper service offerings aligned with evolving merchant needs.

The approval also reflects Mswipe’s strategic evolution beyond its early focus on point-of-sale hardware. Over recent years, the company has expanded its platform to include MPOS and smart PoS terminals, QR soundboxes, payment gateways and embedded digital payment services, supporting transaction flows across multiple commerce environments.

As regulatory compliance becomes central to sustainable scale in India’s FinTech sector, the PA licence positions Mswipe to compete more directly with established payment aggregators while deepening its role in the country’s growing digital commerce infrastructure.
