Paytm and Suryodaya Small Finance Bank unveil postpaid credit line on UPI

Paytm, operated by One 97 Communications Limited, has announced the launch of Paytm Postpaid, a Credit Line on UPI, in collaboration with Suryodaya Small Finance Bank.

The service, powered by NPCI, provides customers with the flexibility to “Spend Now, Pay Next Month”, offering up to 30 days of interest-free credit on everyday transactions.

Through this facility, users can make payments using UPI across all merchant touchpoints, including scanning QR codes, shopping online, or paying for recharges, bill payments, and bookings on the Paytm app. The service is being rolled out initially to a select base identified through spending behaviour and will be expanded to more users in the near future.

The offering leverages Paytm’s technology capabilities in secure, real-time payments, enabling individuals to manage liquidity without disturbing daily expenses, while merchants benefit from instant settlement and universal acceptance through the familiar UPI flow.

Commenting on the launch, Avijit Jain, Chief Operating Officer – Lending at Paytm, said that Indian households often look for additional flexibility in managing everyday expenses. He emphasised that Paytm Postpaid Credit Line on UPI allows consumers to spend instantly and conveniently repay the following month, whether at local stores, for household bills, or while shopping online. He added that the partnership with Suryodaya Small Finance Bank and NPCI reflects Paytm’s commitment to providing secure, compliant, and innovative payment solutions.

Vishal Singh, Chief Information Officer and Head Digital Banking, Suryodaya Small Finance Bank, highlighted that the collaboration underscores the bank’s focus on expanding access to secure and responsible credit. He noted that by enabling Paytm Postpaid on UPI, consumers gain greater flexibility while benefiting from the reliability of a regulated banking partner.

Paytm continues to introduce new features that enhance customer convenience, such as spend categorisation with a Monthly Spend Summary, the ability to hide or unhide payments for privacy, home screen widgets like “Receive Money”, and personalised UPI IDs. Customers can also download UPI statements in Excel or PDF and view balances across all linked accounts in one place.
